About the Artist: |
Pat lived in Florida for almost 30 years and still marvels at its incredible sunrises and sunsets,
its lush tropical
flowers and foliage. Yet she feels her roots still remain firmly anchored in the woodland
areas of New England area and in similar areas near her current home in the
Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain
areas of North Carolina and Tennessee. She has traveled
extensively in California and the Southwest, always taking pictures of
the countryside, and her many ski trips to Colorado, California, Montana and Utah
also added to her extensive photo collection of winter reference material. Her goal as an artist is to try
to recapture the beauty of these places on a variety of surfaces so she can share it with others.
Born and raised in the New York area, she grew up enjoying the great outdoors and spent countless hours hiking, boating, swimming and enjoying area activities. She loved the variety of weather, and was as happy ice skating on a frozen pond as she was body surfing the waves at Long Island's Jones Beach; She loved going for long trail rides on horseback, or sailing a racing class boat on unpredictable Long Island Sound. If it could be done out of doors, it was well worth doing.
Her love of the changing seasons ranged
easily from an enjoyment of the crisp days of October with their breathtaking
display of autumn leaves, to the delight of waking up to an overnight snowfall
which had transformed familiar objects into a virtual wonderland of
unusual shapes and mounds. She loved to hear the crunch of snow beneath
her boots on a frigid January morning, but she also enjoyed watching for the first returning
robin, examining the barren branches for signs of swelling buds, and searching
the thawing grounds in March to see if the crocus and daffodils had poked their heads above the dwindling snow cover to
announce the coming Spring.
All paintings, unless otherwise noted, are originals, signed by the artist on the front, with the name of painting and date completed on the back. ACEO's have the support, medium used, and date on the back of the artwork.
Pat has exhibited her paintings at the Gallery on Virginia, Ocoee City Hall, the Downtown Orlando Library, Maitland Civic Center, Beardall Senior Center, Creative Spirit Gallery, and Galaxy Aviation, all in the greater Orlando area, and at the Opportunity House in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She had a two month long solo artist exhibit at Apopka City Hall in Apopka, Florida.
Her paintings currently hang in private collections in Altamonte Springs, Orlando, Longwood, Winter Springs, Clermont, Delray Beach, Jupiter, Jacksonville, Jensen Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Mount Dora and Winter Park in Florida, and in private homes in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maryland, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Idaho, Nebraska, Indiana, Montana, Minnesota, Colorado, Wisconsin, California, Washington, Spain and Canada. She has found the Internet to be a great way to expose her artwork to those who might never see it under other circumstances.
